The Ridge is our Gift.
Let's Give Back.
Help us Protect the Ridge
This vast and beautiful resource, a backdrop to our lives, and a globally important migration highway, needs our help. Your donations to the Kittatinny Ridge Fund are used to help conserve the lands and waterways of the Kittatinny Ridge and Corridor, and to help provide a scenic corridor for the Appalachian Trail. Contributions are also used to help raise awareness of the importance of preserving these lands — for water quality, for wildlife habitat, for migration, as a climate change buffer, and for recreation for the hundreds of thousands of citizens living within traveling distance. Land Preservation Options
Landowners along the Kittatinny Ridge can become true partners in the conservation of this beautiful and functional landscape. Partner land trusts along the Kittatinny corridor have helped landowners who wished to donate mountain land, and have accepted conservation easements from landowners (a conservation easement places restrictions on the use of the land to protect resources without a change in ownership). In some instances land or conservation easements can be purchased from the landowner, when the land has especially high conservation value and when grants are available.
Local land trusts affiliated with the Kittatinny Ridge are available to further explain and assist with preserving land. You can find a land trust in your area from the list below.
Additional land trusts, and more information about conserving land, can be found on the Pennsylvania Land Trust Association website.
Have you considered what legacy you will be leaving? Including Audubon in your estate plans, on behalf of the Kittatinny Ridge project and partners, can extend your support beyond your lifetime for the Kittatinny, a Global Important Bird Area and home to Pennsylvania’s portion of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.
A legacy gift can help conserve this treasured landscape, one that wildlife and millions of people on the Ridge and beyond depend upon for its intact forests, clean and plentiful water, fresh air, and recreational resources. The Kittatinny has been identified as one of the most important landscapes in Pennsylvania for climate change resiliency. Helping safeguard the health of this ridgeline is, literally, our legacy for future generations.
There are many ways that you can contribute with a planned gift, and our staff is available to assist you in determining which type of gift may be right for you. Corporate and Business Partnerships
Corporations and Employees are becoming more aware that they rely on the Kittatinny Ridge for clean water, forest assets, ecosystem services, and recreation. The public likes to know that their companies understand the importance of the natural resources we all depend upon. There is rising awareness that a company with a vision for sustainability is a company positioned for success. Corporations can partner with the Kittatinny Coaliiton in a number of ways:
- Sponsorship of events and programs
- Workshops, meetings and research
- Provision of in-kind services
- Partnership with local coalition land trusts for Kittatinny Ridge work
- Cash donations to the Kittatinny Ridge Fund
Immediate Coalition need:
Each spring several “Bird The Ridge” hikes are held along the entire 187-mile Kittatinny Ridge to introduce people to the Ridge and document birds and other wildlife. We are looking for a sponsor for our “Bird The Ridge 2016” Tee-shirts.
Corporate and Business partners are recognized on this website, in our Kittatinny Ridge e-newsletter, in social media, in local land trust materials (where applicable) and in appropriate printed material. Contact us to learn more, or to share your creative ideas for collaboration (and find an excuse to get out of the office and on the Ridge!)
