The Appalachian Trail Conservancy, working with Harrisburg’s Latino Hispanic American Community Center, organized a “Bird The Ridge” hike on June 25, 2016 with 12 participants led by Paul Zeph, formerly with Audubon Pennsylvania. Zeph provided binoculars, bird guides, and other supporting material and shared information about the identification, vocalization, and migration of various song birds and raptors. The two-mile hike started at Scott Farm in Carlisle, PA; continued on the A.T. along the quiet, meandering Conodoguinet Creek, enjoyed for fishing and canoeing; and ended at the Sherwood Drive A.T. parking lot. A bi-lingual translator accompanied the hikers. The event was sponsored by the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Audubon Pennsylvania, the Latino Hispanic American Community Center, and the Cumberland Valley Appalachian Trail Club.
