A Visit to a SAWN-PA Member’s Property – The Bower
October 17 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm EDT
SAWN-PA members Bill and Jane Allis will host us on their unique property in Perry County near Shermans Dale. The “Bower” is a 36-acre meadow and woodland site on a north slope of Second Mountain of the Appalachian Mountain range. Over many years, Bill and Jane have created a sanctuary where art and the natural world co-exist harmoniously. The Bower landscape features wild and introduced native plants in abundance throughout an enhanced open landscape and woodlands complemented by large-scale sculpture and land art. We will walk the property and be inspired by Bill and Jane as they discuss the successes, challenges and lessons learned in their stewardship of the land. This will be a wonderful opportunity to share and learn from each other. Afterwards, we will keep the conversation going as we enjoy our picnic lunches. Drinks and snacks will be provided by SAWN-PA.
