The Elizabeth Woods: Manada Conservancy Protects 44 Acres on First Mountain

The Elizabeth Woods is a beautiful mountain property, fully wooded, with rocky ridge-top located in Lower Paxton Township. The purchase of the property was made possible by a Keystone Fund grant, the generosity of the Champagne Family, and the assistance of The Nature Conservancy. It will be open to the public for hiking and passive enjoyment. The woods, not far from Hocker Park, includes a portion of the Darlington Trail. This aquisition adds another piece to the growing tapestry of unfragmented forest on the Kittatinny Ridge, an important corridor for raptor and songbird migration, wildlife diversity and air and water quality, that numerous organizations are attempting to conserve.
